Obituary

Mr. Palmer "Red" Gene Keathley, age 81, of New Concord, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Known to many as "Red" for his bright red hair, Palmer was born on June 19, 1944, in Galveston, Kentucky, to the late Robert and Myrtle Howell Keathley. He was a skilled butcher, first operating his own shop before later retiring from Kroger as a meat cutter. A talented carpenter, Palmer enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in his craft. Above all, he will be remembered as a caring husband, devoted father, and an even more adored "Papaw."

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Nancy Keathley, who passed away just days prior; one brother, Robert "Junior" Keathley; and one sister, Betty Keathley.

He is survived by his three sons, Rick (Michele) Keathley of Minor Hill, TN, Ted (Stacey) Keathley of Lynchburg, TN, and Scott (Julie) Keathley of Camden, MI; six grandchildren, Kimmy (Cameron) Hood, Dustin (Cassey) Keathley, Chelsey (Matt) Hubbell, Nathan Kurtz, Mike (Miranda) Kurtz, and Candice Phillips; one sister, Nancy Lou Hammoud; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

A celebration of Palmer's life will be held at a later date in Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Benevolent Fund or Angel Community Fund at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House.

Imes Funeral Home & Crematory, downtown Murray, is entrusted with caring for the family.
